As we head slowly out of lockdown and our thoughts are turning to the exciting topic of travelling with the family, we thought it might be an idea to touch on how we can be mindful of our carbon footprint and explore ways we can try to be a little eco-friendly and more sustainable on our next family holiday. Let’s explore how we can tread a little more thoughtfully…
Emissions have fallen during the pandemic in the UK and across the world and are sure to rise again once we are all back to normal. Although they haven’t fallen enough to slow climate change, we could possibly use it as an opportunity to think about how we can help be a little greener and yet still explore.
Holidaying in your own country will obviously help to reduce emissions and those who want to adventure abroad could opt for wheels or water if your destination permits. We are not ruling out air travel, let’s face it, some of the most amazing holidays are a plane ride away, and if your next destination is by air there are still lots of ways we can make a small difference.
Over the next few weeks, we will be exploring what we define as an eco-friendly holiday, generally not about the way we travel, but what we do when we get there. We will cover what we can look out for in terms of how our owners tackle sustainability and eco-friendlyness both at their properties and within the local community. We will also explore how holiday makers can help not only with reducing their climate footprint but also invest in the local community too.
We hope you will join us on our journey, we work closely with all our owners continuously learning more about what they do to help the environment, from recycling, to living off grid and giving back to the local community.
If you have been on a family holiday where the owners are actively doing their bit for the environment, please do let us know. We are always looking for new family-friendly options to share with likeminded families, especially those with young children.
For inspiration for your next eco family holiday take a look at the collection on Holiday Tots where all of the owners are conscious about their environmental footprint and that of their guests. From glamping options to luxury off grid living, there is sure to be something for everyone…
