Written by a guest that stayed at Shanti Maurice in 2021…
Welcome to Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa, a quintessentially 5* luxury resort located in the southern region of Mauritius, also known as the Wild South. The drive from the Airport to the resort is approximately 45 minutes… discovering the south coast of Mauritius is a real change of scenery with its authentically picturesque villages…its vegetable planters, and its villagers without forgetting the welcoming smiles of the Mauritians.
The setting is splendid, in a peaceful environment, located along a two-kilometer beach of fine white sand overlooking a turquoise lagoon paradise. The main asset of the resort is this magnificent beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Mauritius, loved by both Mauritians and holidaymakers.
We arrived at the resort around 10:00 and was welcomed by Vandana, Guest Relations Manager, a joyful, helpful and sweet person who already prepared our stay as desired. All sanitary measures were taken into consideration. The check-in procedures were done in a minute and here we were, enjoying our welcoming cocktails at the Red Ginger Bar Lounge. Let the vacation begin.
The Citronella Oceanview Double Suite Pool Villa

Our villa was spacious with a private pool, all giving an exceptional view of the sea and ocean. The resort offers the full indulgence of comfort, privacy, and intimacy. The children are happy because they have a connecting room to ours. They feel like they are treated like adults! As I open the door to the patio, a soft sea breeze comes to gently caress my face! We had welcoming amenities in the villa which were a basket full of fresh fruits, a platter of sweets, and a sweet message from the Resident Manager, allowing us to have some family quality time before exploring the resort.
Shanti Spa

As planned by Vandana, we took the kids to Les Petits Dodos Kids Club and off we went, at the Shanti Spa for some ‘’Me Time’’. My husband and I had the Jet Lag Recovery massage which we already booked via Shanti Maurice’s mobile application. Shanti Spa is considered to be one of the largest in the Indian Ocean with 25 treatment rooms offering a multitude of signature treatments and packages. They have yoga rooms with specially designed flooring for exercising, meditation rooms, Pilates studios, a Jacuzzi, lap pool, Watsu pool, an AquaFit swimming pool and a hair salon as well. Each area of the spa has been designed for your relaxation and wellbeing in mind. A must-do while staying at the resort, I highly recommend.
Family Time

Back to the room for some fun family time in the pool. We order our lunch through in room service available on Shanti Maurice app. We had a blast looking for the wide choice of which we could order from the in-room service menu with the kids’ menu. We had a delicious pasta with Bolognese and it was pizza for the kids.

The kids were very excited to return to the kids club. It was their space for some fun and lots of amazing activities. They were eager to spend some more time with their new friends, have dinner with them and the team and to watch a movie in open air under the stars. Kids were eager to be there.
Sometime for us

As for us, quality time was much awaited….We had a chill moment at the Red Ginger Bar. It felt so good to do nothing, just watch and hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore. What an amazing view it was.
Dinner time

With many years of history, Mauritius has acquired over the centuries, a rich and varied cuisine. Through the different waves of immigration, the island has accumulated a multitude of culinary influences, brought by different populations from different continents.
The Mauritian gastronomy mixes flavours that are unique and tasty, and stands out from other countries.
At Shanti Maurice, there is a restaurant that offers the authentic Mauritian cuisine, Lakaze Mama. In the Mauritian language, ‘Lakaze Mama’ means food from home prepared by the mother. The warmth and smile of people at the restaurant. The smell of spice, the atmosphere, the herbal garden…everything was unique and in a good vibe. The food was delicious with lots of flavors, especially the Shrimp ‘’Rougaille…so yummy. Will definitely miss those food once home.
After dinner we join the kids at the Rumshed and then back to the villa for some sleep.

After being cradled by the sound of the waves at night and to wake up with magnificent view of the morning sunrise…this certainly made our morning a special one. We had breakfast at Stars and then it was time to leave this out-of-this-world resort. See you soon!
