Trevorrick Farm is a family-friendly mini working farm set in 10 acres of grounds and farmland, set high above the beautiful Little Petherick Creek which runs into the Camel Estuary. As the crow flies Padstow is about a mile away, just the other side of the creek, around four miles by road and a fabulous 2.25 miles by foot.
The family holiday experience on offer at Trevorrick is farm centred with amazing play vehicles – red tractor, “kidbine” harvester and Defender car, as well as play houses, climbing frames not to mention the heated pool (open Easter to the end of October).
Farmers Melanie and Mike, owners at Trevorrick explain what a day at the farm is like:
8.30am
From Sunday to Thursday inclusive meet Farmer Melanie outside the farmhouse and help feed the animals.
This is often the highlight of the day for adults as well as children. Warning: your children will talk about “Melanie’s Farm” from one year to the next!
Feed the chickens and ducks – there may be chicks and ducklings too!
Help feed the kune kune pigs, they sometimes have piglets.
Cuddle the guinea pigs – this can take a while as everyone loves to hold one on their knee. Easy to tell which adults have had a guinea pig as a child, as they want to cuddle them too!
Walk a tame sheep on a rope, or even a lamb, along the lane and admire the view over the Camel Estuary to Rock.
Our sheep are famous, each year they take part in Falmouth’s Live Nativity and walk down Falmouth High Street!
If that’s not enough then the children can groom Snowflake the pony.
9.30am
Animal feeding usually lasts about an hour, and then it’s a second breakfast that is often required!
Adults can have a coffee whilst the children play with the numerous quality toys provided inside the cottage.
10.30am
Why not then take a stroll into Padstow, back packs and baby carriers are provided. Children can often manage the walk themselves by the time they are three.
After a fun day in Padstow, if legs are tired, you could get a bus to the village (one mile away) pick up a taxi, or one party could walk home whilst the other does some “retail” therapy in Padstow.
If you fancy getting around on wheels bikes can be hired in Padstow and you can cycle the Camel Trail – so much easier than bringing your own, although you can cycle to the Trail from the farm along quiet lanes (if you don’t mind downs and ups!!).
2pm
Why not spend the afternoon on the beach. Everyone has their favourite, but Trevone is the favourite for many guests! Only 5 miles away from the farm and it has Blue Flag status. Lovely and sandy with a great cafe and car parking right next to the beach. Also, at Trevone there is “Rocky Beach”, great for shells and rockpools.
Trevone is only one of the beaches close by and the area is often referred to as “Seven bays for seven days” so you really are spoilt for choice.
4.30pm
When you return back to the farm and if the kids still have a little energy have a dip in the heated indoor pool before tea. The pool is exclusive to our cottage guests so often you may have to yourselves.
5.30pm
Don’t want to cook?
Pop along to the Pickwick Inn, half mile along our lane, for a family meal. They also have a play tractor just like at Trevorrick Farm! Excellent food for all.
6.30pm
Bath time and bedtime for the little ones. There are many books to choose from in the cottages, great for a bedtime story.
While the children are tucked up in bed, it is your time to enjoy some relaxation, a glass of wine or maybe a beer or even a read yourself. There is a log burner or open fire in five of the cottages, great for the cooler months.
If you can tear yourself away from the Superfast Broadband, play a traditional game such as Scrabble. – All our cottages are well equipped with games for adults as well as children.
A few of the cottages have hot tubs, great time to relax and recharge for the next morning fun.
It is your time to enjoy all the fun to be had at Trevorrick Farm. Enjoy a Cornish farm-stay set in the beautiful countryside yet so close to the wonderful sandy beaches and scenic coastline. Whether it is a relaxing holiday or active one, it will tick every family member’s box.
There are nine child-friendly holiday cottages in total, with two of them being perfect for a first-time holiday with baby and both come with a private hot tub, making it a nice romantic escape for two.
Head over to Trevorrick Farm for availability on stays.
