Asheston Eco Barns is home to five luxury barns, kitted out ready for a family holiday in Pembrokeshire Wales. It is a wonderful base to explore the region too. With some fabulous beaches from just two miles away, see some beach ideas below. In the meantime, owner Karen shares a few of her favourite family-friendly pastimes…
‘’My recommendations are to head to St. David’s and a must visit is the cathedral. It really does appeal to all ages – it is such a special place – we love popping in just to marvel at the building. Children will love spotting the knights on top of the tombs plus spotting the little wooden animals in the choir seats behind the organ. From there I’d head up the coast path to Porthgain where the coast path is easily accessible for however long a walk that you want to do. The full circular walk to Abereiddy will take you to the Blue Lagoon which is an old slate quarry that the sea has taken over. The Red Bull Cliff Diving has been held here in the past, but it is still a mecca for water sports enthusiasts, and you will often see people coasteering and jumping off the old quarry walls. At the end of the walk visit our favourite restaurant The Shed which is a lovely relaxed bistro serving the best fish and chips in the county.’’
About Asheston Eco Barns…
The barns are beautifully furnished, and the kitchens are fully equipped. Each barn has its own private landscaped area with BBQs and al fresco dining. There are log burning stoves and geothermal underfloor heating making this little retreat perfect for those colder months. The hot water is provided by high tech solar panels making this an eco-friendly stay.
Continuing with the eco theme, each barn has been converted using traditional construction methods while all the walls have been painted with Earthborn clay paints and the ceilings with low VOC white emulsion. Reclaimed floorboards have been used and wooden furniture throughout each barn.

Baby and toddler? They have everything you could need; cots, highchairs and stairgates are a given as standard but have lots more items on request including baby monitors, baby baths etc. There is a good selection of games to hand as well as a playground for the kids to tucker themselves out.
If you can get away from 22 acres of woodlands, fields and wildlife, Pembrokeshire has a beautiful coastline with a great selection of beaches including:
Newgale Sands – one of Britain’s best beaches and suitable for all, swimming, surfing and even kite surfing. The village includes a café and a pub. It is only 2 miles from Asheston.
Broad Haven – A seaside and village resort. Secret rocky coves, making it great for rock pooling. The beach is easily accessible from the village. Lots of activity going on so it is great for food, drinks and family days out.
Little Haven – Is a small village with a couple of pubs, south of Broad Haven. The beach is sandy and very popular.
Fancy a stroll? Great! Pembrokeshire have some great walking and cycling routes whether its inland or along the coast, the air is fresh, and the views are amazing! Get your hiking boots on and head out for an explore, witness the wildlife in the countryside or if you are lucky enough try and spot some whales or dolphins in the sea.
