The Dordogne is a beautiful area of France, with lots to see and do. We spoke with Tracey, owner of a fantastic villa in France, La Grange Sud, and with her expertise on the Dorodgne, here is what she would recommend to families when visiting the area.
Here are Tracey’s FAMILY TOP 5
- GOLF * SPA * MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT * BRASSERIE * JUST A SHORT STROLL
Chateau Vigiers – just a short walk from the villa on a tiny lane. Chateau Vigiers is an exceptional destination with an award winning golf course which welcomes visitors, gorgeous Spa, a Michelin starred restaurant, plus a relaxing Brasserie and bar in front of the 9th and 18th holes. There are very few holiday villas where you have this on your doorstep that you can stroll to!! We all love walking here for a cool drink at the bar in front of the Chateau and watching the sunset.

- FAMILY FRIENDLY WINE TASTING WITH OPTION FOR LUNCH OR PICNIC
The Naked Vignernon – Dave and Amanda have been on the TV series, New Lives in the Sun and welcome our families to their small farm with free range chickens. Amanda offers delicious dining experiences plus wine tastings of their organic wines. This tiny vineyard is very special in our family as our son was married here 5 years ago and we often return here for a picnic lunch in the vines.

- STUNNING CIRCULAR CHOICE OF A WALK OR CYCLE FROM THE VILLA
This beautiful route takes you through the vines and along the tiny single track lanes to the picturesque village of Saussignac, where our family enjoys stopping for lunch at the restaurant Melange. Our granddaughter Juno sits happily in the child seat on the back of the bike. Melange has a great 3 course lunch for 22€ and warmly welcomes families plus an intimate private dining room for special occasions.

- FAMILY FUN GAMES CHATEAU
The Chateau de Bridoire is only a 20 minute leisurely drive. Our family love spending a day here exploring the chateau and enjoying all the traditional games in the grounds.
- ZIP WIRES * BOUNCY CASTLES * WATER GAMES * ANIMAL WORLD
This is a must with our grand children who are 2 and 3 yrs old and always ask to visit this fantastic family park. The Parc du Griffon is a paradise for families.
