I don’t know about you, but I’m up for trying anything that is going to make my life a little easier whilst flying with my daughter. Whether it be a 4 hour flight or an overnight long haul flight – there are products out there that can make your little one more comfortable.
We’ve recently reviewed the Fly Legs Up and the Jet Kids bed box which both provide a leg rest for your kids to either sit more comfortably or for younger kids, have a bed to sleep on.
FLY LEGS UP
Fly legs up is a hammock designed for both adults and children on long haul flights.
HOW IT WORKS
▪ The hammock attaches to the drop down tray table in front of you.
▪ It’s very adaptable and supports your legs either stretched out or curled up.
▪ Allows you to sleep or rest on your side.
▪ Can create a platform for young children to be able to sleep flat.
We recently tested the Fly Legs up on an overnight flight from Austin to London. Mum Sally was hopeful that the Fly Legs Up would make 4 year old Bronwyn’s first long haul flight more comfortable and help her sleep. It was easy to inflate and attach to the seat. Bronwyn enjoyed being able to have her feet up whilst watching movies on board and she did sleep for a good few hours on her flight. Mum Sally’s feedback was that it would be great for younger children / toddlers who would be able to lie flat and sleep using the aid.
Fly LegsUp has been comprehensively tested by a CASA authorised aviation engineer, who is qualified to oversee the introduction of new products onto commercial world airlines. The hammock complies with FAA airline safety and compliance regulations.
Some Fly Legs Up customers have been told they cannot use the hammock on certain airlines but most fly with no issues at all. Most cabin crew can see that the hammocks are safe and not detrimental to the aircraft or other passengers.
JET KIDS Bed Box
The BedBox is a great product when travelling with a little one. It’s a ride on suitcase that doubles as a bed/leg rest. Get your little one to pack their favourite goodies into the BedBox for use while on board too. When they get tired in the airport they jump on and mum / dad can pull them along. When you get on board and they get tired, it takes just 5 simple steps to get them bed ready.

Can you use the BedBox on most airlines? BedBox is a “comfort device” and there are no guidelines in the aviation industry about such products, some airlines do not allow the use of them. There are certain airlines that have banned them on board and there are others that are investigating the use of them. BedBox have been invited to an IATA conference to present their product and draft some guidelines so hopefully this will change in the near future.
Holiday Tots recommend that you check with your airline before purchasing either the Fly Legs up or the BedBox for up to date information.
