Now is the perfect time to visit Chessington World of adventures with your toddler. There is an offer for all week days until 18 October where you get an adult and preschooler ticket for £22. We visited last Monday and had a great time.
There are loads of cool things for under 5’s to do. We arrived shortly after opening, it was a Monday so was pretty quiet. We headed straight to the Gruffalo River ride as Georgia is obsessed with the story – We walked straight in and it was magical. Its quite dark inside so on the first ride round I had a little someone on my lap, but she loved following the story that she knows so well, and asked to go back again straight after – its brilliantly done!
There are 19 rides for toddlers as well as live shows and entertainment (you can even meet and greet the Gruffalo) and a huge indoor soft play for those rainy days. If your kids love animals, pop into the zoo or Sea Life centre. There are many food and drink outlets around and I was delighted to find that they serve COSTA coffee in all of the outlets – just happens to be my absolute favourite. If you have a toddler and a younger one, under 3’s go free. They also have bottle warming and baby changing facilities available to you plus ample parking – there is a charge for parking, either £4 or £10 if you want to park right outside the entrance. We chose to pay £4 and were able to get a park about 5 minutes walk from the gates. I chose to take my buggy as I just knew Georgia’s legs would get tired – it also meant that I could push her from ride to ride rather than having to follow a slow, distracted 3 year old all day. If you don’t have your buggy you can hire one from Chessington – £8 for a single and £10 for a double buggy.
Another favourite of Georgia’s was the Room on the Broom ‘A magical journey’ – Again its brilliantly done and interactive – Visit the enchanted library and walk-through the pages of the well known book – I would definitely recommend reading the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom to your little one in the lead up to your visit, I loved hearing Georgia answer questions and know what was coming next.
After a quick bite to eat – I took a picnic lunch for Georgia but we grabbed a burger and drink before head off to explore. Georgia loves Hook A Duck and she loves her shark teddy she won with her ouma.
Our next stop was a carousel with a difference, The Adventure Tree. There were no queues so I asked if we could stay on, the guy was more than happy to oblige. Followed shortly by Flying Jumbo’s. Georgia is just under 1m tall so there were a few rides she couldn’t go on but there was so much else for her to do, she didn’t even notice. Before we left we were able to catch a show at the Gruffalo Arena which all the kids loved. We then had to hit the road to miss rush hour. All in all we had a lovely day out, there is still a lot we didnt see, never mind the rides not suitable for toddlers – I definitely want to come back with the hubby and friends so that I can go on some of the rollercoasters !
