Have you ever struggled to get nice looking, long lasting sunnies for your little ones? Fellow Cape Tonian, Kirsten (a mum of 2 boys) struggled to find kids sunglasses that looked good, lasted well and offered safety features. So she set out to design her own.
I first came across Leosun on Instagram and instantly wanted to know more. I love the look of the sunglasses (some even matching my very own). I contacted Kirsten and she was kind enough to send me 2 pairs to review. We were sent a pair of the Reinvented (Ochre) Semi-Flex glasses as well as the Classic Flexi glasses (Matte black mirror). Georgia is almost 4 and during lockdown, we’ve spent every moment we can down at the open fields for her to master her balance bike. Both pairs of sunglasses have been thoroughly tested and here is what we thought:
Firstly, I loved the packaging the glasses arrived in. It immediately felt like I was receiving a premium product. I had chosen the Reinvented Ochre semi flex glasses as Georgia loves yellow and the Classic Flexi glasses in matte black mirror as they matched a pair of sunglasses I have (that she always borrows).

The super flex glasses are very durable and hardwearing, which is definitely needed for little ones. I don’t know why but kids just like bending the arms of glasses – you can see how flexible the super flex glasses are here – Georgia really did give them a good pull. They are made of a rubber type material which bends and flexes making them virtually unbreakable. The semi flex glasses don’t flex as much so are a slightly snugger fit but also very light and comfortable.
The glasses cost around £20 which is on the higher end for kids sunglasses, but after seeing how durable they are, they will last. I have easily spent more than that in one summer (sometimes even on one holiday) having to replace glasses that have broken.
Another thing I noticed is Georgia never took them off, with other glasses she was always taking them off saying they were uncomfortable. All of the frames are flexible and comfortable for the little ones. I love that The Reinvented frames are made from leftover off cuts of other sunglasses. All lenses options offer maximum category 3 UVA and UVB protection which protects from glare and filters 100 % of UV rays.
