We’ve asked Cara of SnoozeShade a few questions to find out more about her and what prompted her to start the company.
She said invented SnoozeShade when her daughter Holly was a baby as she wanted something that would help her sleep when she was out in the pram and protect her from the elements. After searching high and low online she couldn’t find anything that did this so she decided to create her own and SnoozeShade was launched in March 2010. Cara started with SnoozeShade Original but parents kept asked her for products that did different things and for different ages. She now has 13 products that work with prams, strollers, infant car seats, travel cots and cots. ‘I’m so proud that SnoozeShade has won over 70 awards and is recommended by baby sleep consultants worldwide. It’s even been spotted on a few celebrity prams and I know it’s been used by the Royal family. Some days I find it hard to believe that something I thought of has helped hundreds of thousands of families around the world!’
2020 has been a tough year for everyone, what challenges have you faced and have things changed for you and your business
‘There were moments this year when I wondered if I could keep the business going and sat there with pen and paper working out how much it would cost to keep the business afloat until the end of the year. I had to make cuts but my team were all amazing and we pulled together. I thought that with the absence of travel that it would have a much larger impact but fortunately the parents who probably buy it for a holiday still bought for the sun protection and sleep help a SnoozeShade brings. We are down this year but nowhere as far down as I thought might happen.’

A large glass of wine and a cheesy film
What plans do you have for 2021?
Well we survived 2020 and that was a big result! I have some new products out and the team will continue to ensure we deliver excellent customer service.
