La Ferme Du Cayla
In my eyes the perfect holiday for the whole family could be a luxury retreat offering lots of fun but also relaxation, an escape for all ages… This can be found at La Ferme Du Cayla in the beautiful Lot region in France; six wonderful, homely cottages with all the mod cons, a swimming pool, spa, kids & baby club, farm and so much more.
In the summer months, June, July and August, they offer a full board package with fantastic customer service. I know July and August are summer holidays, making June a perfect time to head over with your tots before they start school full time.

8:00am – BREAKFAST
Start the day with a fantastic breakfast in the restaurant. Tasty treats that include Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, Nutella! freshly baked bread, local yogurts from the farm in the village (They’re fabulous)….. fruits of the season.. We know little ones don’t always finish their breakfast all at once, but that is okay, it can be taken away for a little late morning snack at the kids club!
9am – 12:30am – KIDS CLUB & ADULT TIME
Shall we start with the kids? On the first day at the kid’s club, everyone receives a present, this includes a bag, water, hat and other treats, for their little adventures. The morning starts with a visit to the farm animals, learning about a particular animal on each day, but they get to say hello and help feed the animals, brush the animal and learn about the fish in the private lake. They even have ride on toys!
Adults, while the children are entertained how about a spot of yoga? This starts at 9:30 am, followed by a massage that is included in your stay, enjoy the steam room and sauna before heading back for lunchtime with the family, enjoy some lovely R&R, a real treat!
12:30pm – LUNCHTIME
Lunch is delivered to your cottage at 12pm, so you can eat your lunchtime meal of a starter, main course and dessert made from local artisanal produce in your well-equipped home for the next week. Lunch can even be enjoyed at the lake.
2pm – 4:30 – MORE KIDS CLUB & ADULT TIME
Children can head off for round 2pm to the kid’s club, this time they can enjoy it around the lake where it is shady, this is the hottest part of the day so need to keep them well protected. The afternoon can be quite artistic. They might start prepping for their theatre show that will be taking place on Thursday evening for all the adults and staff, or just enjoy a little down time painting. There is a zip wire, swings, slides and mini golf for more active kids.
If parents can handle the heat, why not enjoy the afternoon around the beautiful pool recently renovated 10m x5m with its relaxing waterfall, take a little nap or get down to a good book. Fancy a little afternoon drink before the kids get back? Head to the bar for a glass of vino or lovely cocktail.
4:30pm – SNACK TIME
Usually, after nothing but fun, running around and chit chatting to new friends, the little ones are going to need a snack! Snacks can be enjoyed along with some yummy Ice cream. Now is the time for family time before dinner, having a little splash in the pool.
6:30/45pm – KIDDIES DINNER TIME
Hopefully after even more fun, you have found the time to get ready for supper, but not quite adults yet. Kids can enjoy some food with their friends and family, then can head off to play on the green in front of the restaurant.
On the Saturday a welcome buffet is proposed for all guests within there package and on the Sunday evening all kiddies and adults will have the opportunity to make their own pizza’s in the bread oven in the courtyard. The head chef will collect the vegetables from the beds at the farm and propose numerous herbs from the herb garden for your pizza…
7:30pm – ADULTS DINNER
Time for adults to enjoy a lovely dinner and a drink or two while watching their kiddies play. How civilised!

There is a baby club, within the domain with a dedicated room that has little beds and toys. Funnily enough, it sits next to the bar, so you can be nearby too if you want to be. The baby club welcomes babies from 3/6 months to 3 years and is on offer throughout the year. This gives parents a couple of hours break throughout the day if they fancy a little R&R or a lovely dinner in the restaurant.
The kid’s club runs throughout the day but also on two evenings a week, Wednesday and Thursday! Wednesday the restaurant offers buffet meals, so this is a perfect time for the parents to head out of the domain to one of the local villages for dinner, with fabulous restaurants recommended by the owners themselves. Thursday dinner again be enjoyed at the outside Pergola restaurant while the kids club takes place on the grass, so you can see all the fun being had!
The owners James and Olivia live on site with their family throughout the summer months, so they are always happy to help when needed for doctors, dentist and any other amenities needed or advise on any days out.
Children’s massages are now also available at La Ferme Du Cayla, which is very common in France, it helps with breathing and movement and relaxation, one massage per adult is included in your stay.
Ferme Du Cayla is open 51 weeks throughout the year. During children’s holidays weeks are themed such as Easter fun and October (Halloween), guests are welcome for fewer days such as 3/4 nights with breakfast and kids club in the morning.
